The name Moraene is not related to any one person or place. Instead, it reflects process, accumulation, and the way we work. The name is derived from moraine, a landform made of unstratified glacial debris, shaped over time through movement and friction.
This philosophy of anti-stratification informs the way we work. Our practice has formed gradually, shaped by lived experience across cultures, climates, and typologies. We each bring different skills and perspectives, but we’re held together by shared values: care, clarity, and a belief that good design emerges through dialogue.
We see design as a cultural act, one that must respond to the specific conditions of site, climate, and community, and contribute meaningfully to the evolving Australian design landscape.
Sustainability is one of the defining challenges of our time; and one we believe design must face directly, with care, clarity, and imagination.
Design has the power to do more than solve problems. It can offer new ways of living, building, and thinking, where design contributes, to a more generous and resilient future.
Our process is built on curiosity, care, and a belief that strong ideas emerge through collaboration with clients, communities, and each other.
Collectively we present a range of skills across architecture, technology, craft, and design. Our methods combine advanced digital tools with material exploration, enabling us to prototype ideas and test possibilities early.
Our work is concept-driven but flexible, guided by strong intent while open to change. We see design as a living process: one that evolves, adapts, and
always aims to respond to context and community.
